Susan is a capable and competent indepentent nurse who loves to travel, see and experience different countries and cultures.

 

Susan offers a variety of care and support for you to enjoy a holiday, either on your own with her, with your family or a group. Whatever your needs; help you wash and dress, push your wheelchair or assist with feeding.

 

Giving your family time to rest and relax without the worry of your daily living, so you can all enjoy quality time together.

 

Susan has experience travelling with those with severe mobility diffiulties, complex medication, indwelling cateters, dressings, dementia, etc.

 

Not just holidays. She will assist if your travel for work to conferences, or meetings. Accompany you to the theatre and days out as a companion and enabler.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

HOLIDAYS and TRAVEL

 

1. Do you work internationally?

Yes. Susan will travel with you from the UK or meet you at your holiday destination.

 

2. What sort of holidays do you go on?

All sorts! Package, independently organised, tour operator organised, specialist holidays for the disabled and wheelchair user. Whichever you wish. Susan is energetic and resourceful, so whether it's a cycling holiday in Holland or a coach tour of New Zealand – Susan will consider it!

 

3. Who organises the holiday?

That depends on your capability. Susan is happy to assist or make the enquiries to ensure that the holiday is fully accessible. Beware! Some hotels consider that handles to help climb into the bath make a bathroom accessible!

 

4. Can you recommend tour companies or hotels?

Yes, where Susan has experience with a company or hotel, she is happy to share this information.

 

5. What do I pay for?

You will be expected to pay all holiday expenses for Susan as well as yourself. That includes flights, transfers, accommodation, meals and entrance fees.

 

6. Do I have to share a room?

No. Susan is content to share a twin room or have single rooms. Depends how many are traveling together whether male or female and what assistance is required.

 

7. What fee is charged?

A daily fee for Susan’s services will be discussed when she assesses of your needs. This is not static and is adjusted according to the level of care required. Mileage is charged at 45p / mile when using Susan's car.

 

8. What does Susan expect from the holiday?

Susan requests respect and consideration, and an hour to rest alone before dinner, if possible. She has no expectations to see or doing anything particular for herself.

 

9. I can be difficult and often change my mind.

Susan is travelling with you, to help you enjoy your holiday. She is there to assist you to do and see the things you want to.

 

10. I want to go away, but don’t have specific dates or know where to go.

You will need to discuss availability with Susan to identify possible dates. She can ask you questions to find out what type of holiday you may prefer and suggest destinations.

 

11. Who should I contact if I have any queries?

Please ask for Susan: 07954 969 269. If she can't answer your query immediately, she will find out and respond as soon as she can.

12. Do I need travel insurance?

You will need travel insurance, especially if leaving the UK. Susan can assist you to find something suitable.

 

13. How can I cancel or change my plans?

Please let Susan know as soon as possible if there is a problem with your booking. It depends how far the booking has progressed as to what can be done. Your travel insurance should cover you for medical cancellations.

 

14. Do you have ABTA cover?

Susan is an independent nurse / enabler and not a travel agent, therefore she does not need to be a member of the Association of British Travel Agents.

 

15. What insurance do you have?

Susan has indemnity cover with the Royal College of Nurses for her nursing activities. She has word-wide annual travel insurance. You will not be required to pay or contribute to these insurance costs.
